Kuruvilla Chandy was the pastor of the Lalbagh Methodist Church in Lucknow, India, from 1974 to 1997, and to date was its longest serving pastor. After that, he became the founding pastor of the Grace Bible Church and served till 2014, and as Emeritus Pastor for another two years.

Pastor Kuru is known for his expositions of Scripture. His series of sermons on the book of Philippians was published under the title, The Joy of Fellowship (1993), on the book of Job as Why Me? (2005), and on the Stations of the Cross (from a biblical and evangelical perspective) as The Road to Calvary (2014).

Kuru is a gifted writer. His articles feature in the leading interdenominational Christian magazine of India, Light of Life, AIM (the official organ of the Evangelical Fellowship of India), and Christian Trends. While with the Methodist Church, he used to write for Indian Witness (the official journal of the Methodist Church in India). For some years Kuru edited and published A Voice in the Wilderness...to challenge the Methodist Church in India. He writes about critical issues facing the church in India.

Kuru has authored other monographs and books: Predestined to Hell? (1970), For Adults Only (1971), What Are You Talking About? (1973), Beyond Bread And Wine (1977), View From The Pulpit (1995), Spirit of Jesus (2003), My Father’s World (2005), Living in My Father’s World(2005), and Jesus, God’s New Way (2017, co-authored with Charles Christian).
